Brand new and hope you can help. I've decided to build myth pvr over spring break and picked all my parts to buy but after looking around I can't tell if the Hauppauge 150 will work out of the box. I also can't tell if my AT&T usb wireless g will work. I have never built a linux box and thought KnoppMyth would be easy. I thought I would start off simple with an Atholon 22oo processor and I have a Nvidio 440. Any help? |

If you'd searched the forum for "PVR 150" (don't forget to click the "require all terms" checkbox) you'd have found a single consistent answer. NO. Not now, maybe in several months, but definitely not now. Lots of people don't seem to want to believe that, but it's the straight scoop. |

KnoppMyth is easy. Unfortunately, you purchased hardware w/o doing your homework first. |

Post subject: | I guess I'm not clear on parts |
Thanks for the help so far but I guess I'm not clear on this. I have not bought any of these parts yet but made a list and checked prices and am ready to order my parts. I have spent a few hours trying to track down if the parts that are a good deal on the web now would work. I now know that the Hauppauge 150 won't work but don't know what would be the best deal in the $75 dollar range and the AT&T usb wirless is on sale for $20 at compusa. My wife won't let me spend much on this set up and trying to stay in budget. All my other parts I found would work. any help on what to get instead? |

The PVR 150 and 500 are bleeding edge. Some folks have reported success. Youll have to check the ivtv mailing list. Both cards need the 0.3.x driver. KnoppMyth currently ships w/ 0.2.x. As for the AT&T wireless thingie.... Google is your friend. I myself don't do wireless. The processor and video card sound fine. |

I believe the at&t wireless should be supported with ndiswrapper, but would require some tinkering. look at the cardlist on the ndiswrapper page for verification, but I know some of the at&t wireless g stuff is supported, I myself just bought the pcmcia on sale for $10 at compusa because it was reported to work, unfortunately my laptop died before I got a chance to test it. I'll be setting it up in a couple of weeks when it comes back from repair. |
