Post subject: | HPT366 IDE Timeout Error |
I'm trying to upgrade my system to R5 from R4V5. I have tried a couple of the alphas and am having the same trouble with all of them. First I couldn't boot off the CD at all, it would just hand while trying to update fstab. I decided to disconnect my 2 drives connect to my HPT366 controller. After that it booted and installed fine. With the exception of a few errors complaining that it cannot copy some files. The message flash by too quickly to copy down. After shutting down and reconnecting my drives, it boots, but while running vgscan, I get IDE Timeout Error. What changed with the HPT366 driver between R4 and R5, or should I say kernel 2.4 and 2.6? Here is my config: Abit BE6-II PIII 600 512 ram 12 GB system drive 2x160 GB in lvm for /myth I can't playback video with this rig, but it is only the backend. I have an EPIA M10000, running windows right now. Once I get to .17, I plan on running minimyth over the network. The EPIA is a little too loud with the hard drive and fan to cool the case down. |

I have no idea about the ide controler, but I believe there will be a new Alpha public release soon with epia support, which may be of interest to you. |

I have it, but before I can use it I need to get .17 on my backend. I forgot to mention in my config that I am using PVR-250 with DirecTv. Not that it will help solve the problem at hand. |
