Post subject:  Winfast TV2000XP setup problem(s)

Ok, I'm trying to setup the TV card on R5A10 of Knoppmyth.

It's a Winfast TV2000XP (listed on the box as PAL-I and PAL-D/K), and I'm in the UK.

Everything I've tried has no effect, all I get is static with sometimes a green bar at the bottom.
I can get video through the svideo port on the card from my cable box, but that's black and white, which IIRC is usally a sign that it's getting messed up between PAL and NTSC signals.

In the Global Backend Setup screen my TV format is set to PAL (There's no PAL-I option), and I've got the channel frequency IDs from the BBC web site, which match what's on my VCR.

I've searched the forums, and tried the instructions here:
    http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3705
I've tried putting the appropriate values into
    /etc/modules
and also
    /usr/src/linux/drivers/media/video/bttv-cards.c

Which didn't work.

I've also tried different tuner values, 0, 1 and 5

Any ideas where to go from here?

Thanks,

Matt

i had 2 problems with this card, my first problem, which was stupid of me, but boy did it cause me hours of grief was i had the cable going into the fm tuner input (they look exactly the same and are right next to each other)...secondly was specifying the tuner option, see my thread right below this one for what i did to fix it, mine is ntsc tho...i still had to specify tuner=2 b/c it doesnt get detected properly

plus make sure you are talking about the delux card not the expert card. the delux is a bt878 and just needs the proper tuner setting. this line in /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv should do the trick

options bttv card=34 tuner=5 gbuffers=8

if it's a expert card it's based on a different chip, and doesn't work with mythtv that I know of.

I gave up in the end and just got a PVR-250. Which is working reall well.

My TV2000XP was the 878 chipset PAL one, but I've just sold it so I can't test it.

And now I've got a DVB-T card on the way too :-)
