Post subject:  Packard Bell Remote / Mythfrontend or Mythbackend

Great Job on the KNoppmyth guys.it works GREAT!

Ok my question?

I have KM up and running on a backend/frontend solution with 1 pvr-250 and 1 m179. The remote on this machine is working great! I am using the remote for the PVR-250.

I also have a Frontend only machine with no PVR cards but I do have a Seriial IR and Remote. This is a Packard bell remote. one of those cheapies you can get for 9.00 on ebay. On this frontend machine once I set up the Serial device in the bootmisc.sh file /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

added this :
# Setup LIRC for Serial
setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none
modprobe lirc_serial
/usr/local/sbin/lircd
/usr/local/sbin/lircmd

I copied the packard bell config into the /etc/lircd.conf

I copied the Pakard bell config I picked up for the remote into /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

I can run irw and I see the codes.

But nothing in mythtv is seeing it and I am not even sure it reads the lircrc file.

I am doing something wrong?

Thanks!!!!

:) Thanks! No, that sounds right. Start MythTV from an xterm, if it doesn't connect to LIRC you'll see an error.
