| Post subject: | CD Frontend won't detect my NIC |
I want to run the frontend from the CD, but it won't detect my NIC. I have an ASUS P4C800 Deluxe MoBo with built-in 3com NIC. Am I just SOL, or is there a way to load the drivers (remember, w/o the NIC I can't download anything and the driver from 3com is too large for a floppy). Thanks |

We'd love to help, but no one is going to Google and figure out what 3Com chipset is on your motherboard. Find out what chipset is on board then find out if it is supported by the kernel (2.6.9). Although the chipset wasn't detected (not all in life is perfect), if the kernel supports it, you may just need to modprobe chipset then run netcardconfig. |

Thanks for the response. It is a 3COM 3C940 gigabit NIC. I looked around a bit and found some posts on various forums that suggest it is supported in the 2.6.9 kernel under sk98lin. Is there a page somewhere that just lists kernel support? This is my machine at home, so I will give it a try tonight (I am in the US/Mountain Time Zone by the way). |
