Post subject:  usb camera & Parallel LCD issues

I cant get my myth box to mount my oympus D-510. My Microvault mounts fine and this camera mounts fine on my mandrake 10 main box. The error given is "/dev/sda is not a valid block device" What gives?

Also I cant pass data to my lcd screen using "echo "hi" > /dev/lp0" like i could in Mandrake? It says "/dev/lp0 : No such dev or address"

thanks

Hello,
I would also like to figure out why my LCD will not work. I am using the LCDd version 0.4.5, and I had it working on the older version on Knoppmyth V4R17. I am now using V5R12
Is there something elsea using the Parallel port?

Thanks
JBDWW

Hello Again,
I have been doing a little bit of digging. For some reason there is no device for lcd. By reading the LCDd source, it is trying to open /dev/lcd.
How can we create the /dev/lcd device?

Thanks

V4R17?! V5R12?! These aren't versions of KnoppMyth. You have to tell MythTV to use LDCproc (I do believe that this is already stated on the forum). As for create /dev/lcd, google is your friend.

Hello,
It looks like you need lcdmod, but when I try to compile it, it gives errors, and never compiles. Also I tried compiling the kernel that came with knoppmyth, and it errors out to. Is there some kind of apt-get that I can do to get the module?

Thanks

Code:
apt-get update
apt-cache search lcdmod

As I'm working on the next release (when it is ready), I'll looking into this... It is hard to try and test everything when you don't have every possible hardware combination. That is why feedback is very important.

Thanks,
