Until NBC's "The Office" started, I never had reason to notice this, but I get no audio at all on that station (Channel 4 in New York), either when watching live TV, or when recorded. The video quality is fine, and the file sizes of the recorded shows are in line with what I'd expect.

I have cable (Cablevision), and I split the cable so that one goes to my generic cable box and one goes to my PVR-250. My wife hates the lag when changing channels on the MythBox, so she typically watches live tv straight from the cable box, and in that scenario (ie, bypassing the knoppmyth computer altogether) channel 4 has audio just fine.

I'm assuming, for now, that this is an ivtv problem. Does anybody have any ideas about how I can troubleshoot this?

Thanx,
-B.J.

I have the exact same problem with cable in Milwaukee. I'm splitting the coax between my cable box and a PVR250 and channel 4 NBC has no audio. The picture quality also leaves something to be desired, while all other channels are fine.

Have you got anything else in the circuit? Maybe a VCR or something else with a tuner? I had weird problems with several channels until I unplugged the VCR from the cable feed. I don't know if it was some kind of signal reflection/interference, or extra signal load, or ... but it made a world of difference.

tjc,

As I have internet access through cablevision as well, I can't practically disconnect everything else besides the Knoppmyth box. :)

But over this weekend I will disconnect the lead that goes to my cable box, and I'll let you know. I'll even briefly disconnect my cable modem and see if that changes anything.

BTW, my video quality is fine, even on NBC (the station with no sound).

Thanx,
-B.J.

My networking is on the cable too. I meant downstream from the splitter and filters. However If the picure is clean that's less likely to be the issue.

A long shot but is there a setting for SAP in Myth (Secondary audio programming). If there is no secondary audio you would hear nothing.
I see this on TV's all the time.
