Will the PVR-250 pulled from a MS XP Media Center PC work for MythTV? I believe I read somewhere that these were configured differently and wouldn’t work.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been covered.

I haven't heard anything about that... A PVR-250 is a PVR-250 isn't it? I have read about OEM versions of the 250 that lack the IR control, but that is simple enough to spot.

You could just do the experiment: pull the board and try it :) You can always replace it without Win getting too angry I think.

Sorry, you're saying the PVR-250 has no video out? Can you inspect the hardware before you buy it or is it an internet product? You might save yourself some time/money by just buying one from a legit vendor. You can get them from 120-140 depending on the shipping option you use.

Had mine for several weeks now and it produces very high quality caps.

Yes, the PVR-250 doesn't have TV out. Which video card do you have? From the link, it seems you have a digital card. I don't know the spec of these cards.

no pvr250 has ever had tv out. The pvr350 are the ones with tv-out.

my guess is this is the same as the freestyle cards doesn't have the ir remote. at least that's what I gather from the link and the MCE edition.

And yes the freestyle cards do work.

Sorry for the confusion. No video card as yet, just trying to gather the parts I need. I believe the card is a PVR-250MCE as described in the link below. The specs look very similar except that the PVR-250 has IR remote which the MCE does not, and the MCE has an FM tuner. Also, as noted in the link above, the MCE has RCA jacks for audio input, hopefully that doesn't mean I have to go that route to get audio in. If you think I'm safe going with this card please let me know. Thanks for the help.

well don't know anyone who has used these cards, so my suggestion would be to ask over on the ivtv devel list. They would most likely know what card it is and if it works or not. If it works with ivtv it will work with knoppmyth.
