Post subject: | Upgraded Video Card- Now no TV out |
I just did some upgrades on my mythbox. I put in a quieter HSF and upgraded from a GF3 (could not get overscan to work right) to a fanless fx5200. I had to pull the MB out to install the new HSF, but I was carefull to put the pci cards (bttv card, wireless lan card, sound card) back into same pci slots. I did put the new fx5200 in the agp slot. The sound card and wireless lan card detected and worked correctly. It booted right back into mythtv no problems. I am using the svideo out to a tv. I can no longer view live tv. The remote on the BTTV card changes the channel, but just snow for a picture. I deleted my previous recordings so I am not sure if it would play video or not. I would like to avoid a clean install if possible. Any thoughts on why live tv no longer works? I have tried changing the capture card setting from /dev/video to /dev/video0 and /dev/video1 thinking maybe the video card detected as something different, but no joy. |

Suggestion: Under R5A12, try the /usr/local/bin/install-nvidia-6629-debian.sh script. You may have to tweak XF86Config-4 after that, depending. Otherwise: 1. Run a mythtv backup. 2. Upgrade to R5A12 (or perhaps a later version next week?) 3. Run a mythtv restore. -brendan |

It seems that I run into the same problem. I have a AOpen XC Cube, first with a old PCI VGA-Card and no TV-Card, only used for watching DVD's and AVI's (Knoppmyth R5A12) on my plasma. Now I've bought a Nvidia Geforce FX5200 AGP with DVI and a PVR-350 with silver remote (tuner typ 38 ). I have anything running, but no Live-TV, only snow. I've tweaked over 3 days all tips I could find, no chance. I dont want to do a fresh install, because all other things working fine. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

If you AutoUpgrade (after doing a backup), there is no need to manually run mythrestore (unless something breaks or you know what you are doing...). |

Well, I found the problem to be a bad piece of coaxial cable. Off course I did not find the problem until after I did a clean install. I went the clean install route because I wanted to use a bigger HD I had laying around. I configured everything using a computer monitor, and when I put the mythbox back on the TV setup, I found I had exactly the same problem as before. I had lent my coax splitter and cables to a friend so he could try out my box to see how he liked it. When I installed the setup back at my house, apparently one of the cables had been damaged in transit. A 2 dollar piece of coaxial cable fixed the problem I am pretty sure the new fx5200 I installed would of worked fine in place of my gf3 card without having to do an auto update or a clean install. The good news is my HSF is much quieter, the fanless fx5200 works great and now the overscan works perfectly. Could not be much happier at this point. |
