Post subject: | Sound workaround for mpeg decoded output on PVR350? |
Ive got my pvr350 tv out to use the hardware mpeg decoding. This is great for picture quality and ive noticed its a lot less jittery. Although Ive noticed some issues with this though. The volume is now really low. I have to turn my tv up to about 30 when the normal setting is about 12 to get the same volume as what comes from the soundcard. Also I am unable to control the volume through mythtv. Any way around this? Also, audio only works for the tv portion of mythtv. I read this: http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/DigitalSoundHowTo#head-643f2586d7d128f5da749aca0ab6d44551311577 but I wasnt sure if this was the same issue as mine. Would I have to pipe the output back into my soundcard and then use the soundcard for audio output? I was thinking maybe a simple solution would be to have a splitter which took the output from the soundcard and from the pvr350 and then combined the 2 to go into my tv's input. This should work since only one is outputting sound at a time but I would be blown away by the differences in sound levels when inputs were switched. Thanks! |

yes most people pipe the pvr350 output back into the soundcard and connect line out to the tv. A splitter would work though I could see possible minor distortion problems if you are an audiophile and I'm sure it's not electronically the right thing to do (don't know why I'm not an ee, but I'm sure one of them will tell us why this is a bad idea) but it would work. |
