I have a new remote I would like to use with my mythbox. My IR reciever(creative Infra-Reciever) is working fine with another remote. When I try the new unit however, I get some wierd error about no gap being found. Is there a way to fix this or do I need another remote?

I got the same error before. I was playing around to see if I could get my Dish Network remote to work. I didn't think it would and of course it didn't. I think I seen someone at Gossamer post about a new version of lirc that it will work with, but I didn't pursue it any further. I think it isn't compatible. Do a search and you can find some that are. Usualy the All-4-Ones work.

what type of remote is it? is a multi-function remote that requires you to enter the 3-4 digit code for TV? I needed to try MANY tv codes before I found one that send data for every button

For example, it you set the code to a value that is designed to work with a very simple tv, then only 0-9 on/off, channel and volume buttons will send signals.

For example, I have a Sony 4-in-1 remote, I need to set the TV button to code 098 in order to have all buttons send signal. Then I was able to record the entire keymap.

It is just a random remote. It came with m ati capture card and a usb IR reciever. Apparently it is some sort of media center remote.
