I'm probably just being a muppet here, but I can't figure this one out.

My system:
AMD XPm2500+
Abit NF7-S
Avermedia 771
PVR 250

Here's where I've got to:
1. I've added dvb-bt8xx
2. mythtv-setup finds the card
3. I can scan for channels and have got it to find the BBC channels (I've not tried the other ones yet)

What I can't do:
1. Get the listings for the channels it's found
2. Watch and of the dvb-t channels.

With the help of a friend, I've done this:
1. Used dvbscan to create a channels.conf file
2. used tzap to tune to one of these channels.

I was then instructed to use mplayer to read the dvb stream:
mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
This looks like it's playing, but doesn't output anything. So I got asked to do:
cat /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
Which should aparently output a load of random characters, but on mine outputs nothing.

That's as far as he could help me, does anyone else have any ideas?

...I'm not the one who should give advice, but I've found easier to use Xine or, way better, Kaffeine-DVB from CVS (should be kaffeine 0.6 now I think).

Please note that my experience with those two programs was made in FC3; knoppmyth 5A15.1 worked almost straight out of the box for me.

Xine (in the graphical user interface) showed a DVB button and allowed me to select the channel (I think I had to copy channels.conf in the .xine directory or something like that). I suppose this is the easiest choice to troubleshoot the card in Knoppmyth.

Kaffeine DVB is the best program I have seen for watching DVB in a desktop PC, light years ahead the Avermedia windows software that comes with the card.

Disclaimer: I'm beginner so don't follow my suggestions...

I've tried Xine as well, as I use that to play DVDs in myth. And xine gives me an error. (I can't tell you what that is at the moment, as I'm not near the box...)
