Specs

I'm thinking of putting together a (cheap) computer to function as both a MythTV box and a file server. The link above contains the specs I have so far on the computer.

Does anyone have recommendations as to how the hardware will work together, or how to make the computer a little bit cheaper?

Thanks,
mchlax

It's already pretty cheap, but it probably should work (make sure you check the motherboard against Tier 1 and 2). if you're willing to do some extra work and deal with bleeding edge hardware a PVR-150 could trim the cost some.

That sounds fine for a file server and should work pretty good for capture. My only warning is that my Athlon XP 2600+ with 512mb pc2700 ram is a little slow when caputuring video and while I'm accessing files off of it using a remote machine. I will notice it skip every now and then and HD playback is questionable when it's live video (HD only). I only have experience with the PVR cards for capture so I cannot comment on your card selection. I do have a MX440 installed and it works fine.
