I just installed knoppmyth V5A15.1 on my VIA EPIA M (the 1 GHz model). After the reboot, it starts up just fine then my monitor goes to power save mode as soon as X starts. I can switch back to a console and that is working just fine. No errors reported in the X log, and everything seems to be set up properly. I tried switching over to the vesa driver instead of via (to see if it was a driver issue), and that worked. However, I'd really like to get the via drivers working. Anyone know what's going on with this and have a solution? Let me know if you need more info.

Perhaps the modeline being used is outside of the range of the monitor's capabilities? Do you have experience with XF86Config-4 files?

I'm not really familiar with modelines, but I did check the hsync/vsync and they were correct (and the monitor was correctly identified). Also, in my experience that generally gives an "out of sync" error on the monitor, this just sends my monitor to standby mode (or when I try hooking it up to my projector I get a "no signal detected" message).

Hmm, hard to say, since i'm comparing output of the nvidia driver to your via driver. But it loks to me like X *thinks* it is running correctly (no errors, just warning that it is throwing out some of the non-matching modelines).

I might try ctrl-alt-+ to cycle through the known-"valid" display sizes, just in case it is an out of range issue and the monitor won't sync...

Other than that, perhaps commenting out all of the Modeline entries that you know you aren't going to use might help?

Ok, finally got it fixed. followed the instructions found in another post (copied instructions below for anyone else that has this issue).
