I've read MANY different posts how to get the TV-out working with a PVR-350. I still can't get it working. I've tried with R5V4, R5A15.1.
There's a multitude of posts and instructions how to do it, using various versions of KnoppMyth and drivers, etc. I've tried all I could find and am not making much progress. The closest I get is those horizontal stripes (alternating white/black, with colors mixed in with the white - a bunch of them showing up on the TV)
I have a slowish computer (P-450, 320MB RAM, PVR-350, standard ATI video card (no tv out))
I can view TV on the monitor, not Television.
I couldn't even list all the various directions to get it working, there's way too many. I've installed KnoppMyth no less than 25 times trying to get it working. Some of the directions I've found don't work with R5A15.1 (give errors) and I haven't come up with a combination that works yet.
I'm getting frustrated. Could someone supply direction to get it installed/working? I'd also like to get the remote working, too.
I can see choppy video on the monitor (due to slow CPU, I'm guessing) but get no audio. The audio is not a problem since I don't plan on using that too much anyway. I think I just need to use a different sound card and not the one on my Motherboard (it doesn't get detected by Linux correctly, either).
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hardware:
P450, 320MB RAM, PVR-350 and ATI plain-jane AGP video card with NO TV-output, just computer monitor.
OK - starting point
New R5A15.1 install.
When I initially install - before it reboots the 1st time, I see errors - they fly by the screen pretty quick but it looks like can't find directories, files, etc. and in the end, it all appears to work out.
1. Reboots and goes to set up Myth.
2. I make NO General Config Changes
3. I add my PVR-350 in the Capture Card settings. I make no change for Video Device. I choose Default Input Tuner 0
4. I add Video Source - Cable and successfully retrieve my Cable Lineup.
5. I add an Input Connection: source is Cable
6. I Escape and then Myth gets the current TV schedule lineup.
Then I can watch TV on the monitor but get NO sound. My on-board sound card isn't detected by Linux so I expected that. I may add a sound card later.
Then, I ran the pvr.pl script to see if that'd work (I backed up my XF86Config-4 first)
No good - I get an error:
Insmod: Can't read 'ivtv-fb': No such file or directory
But if I continue on, I get:
Need to update Mythtv so i tknows to use PVR-350 for TV playback. Where do I notify Myth TV about that. I don't see any tick box or anything like that to notify MythTV about the PVR-350 Playback.
After I reboot, when booting, I see all sorts of errors regarding "post-install" which I'm thinking the script installs in the XF86Config-4 file - and doesn't seem to work with R5A15.1 (but does with R5V4, which I've also tried). Then Myth doesn't start up and I get a display problem - X Server doesn't start. No screens found. I did set the busid to "10"
lspci shows Code: 0000:00:10.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) so I made XF86Config-4 look like: Code: Section "Device" Identifier "Hauppauge PVR 350 iTVC15 Framebuffer"

Did you try the steps at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4557? When I tried the PVR.pl script, it hosed my /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv file. First, I'd grab a backup of that file (the script should have made one for you...). Then try the directions that worked for me, if you hadn't already...

I have tried those instructions before, but nevertheless, here I try again.
Some results.
Is this normal?

Code: Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "XFree86 Configured" Screen 0 "TV Screen" InputDevice "PS/2 Mouse" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" EndSection Code: Section "Device" Identifier "Hauppauge PVR 350 iTVC15 Framebuffer" Driver "ivtvdev"
### change fb1 to whatever number you got in the previous section Option "fbdev" "/dev/fb1" Option "ivtvdev" "/dev/fb1"
### change the busid to whatever is reported by lspci. Note that ### output of lspci is hex, so add a preceding "0x" to the BusID BusID "0:0x10:0" EndSection Code: 0000:00:10.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01) but I get no output when doing a Code: cat /var/log/messages | grep "iTVC15 TV out" as directed in Jarod's Fedora Myth directions. Is there a different command to get the fb number in KnoppMyth? Anyway.... I made it throught the entire instructions and get Code: Fatal Server Error....no screens found and thus, a blue screen - Xserver won't start

Yeah, I don't see any TV Out messages in /var/log/messages either. Try dmesg.
Code: root@celestial:~# dmesg | grep "iTVC15 TV out" ivtv-osd: fb0: iTVC15 TV out frame buffer device
And yes, the lirc stuff is usual, it's setting up all the links for the various run levels.

Well, there's a problem:
I get no output when doing:
Code: dmesg | grep "iTVC15 TV out" OK - I did a Code: root@pvr:/etc/mythtv/modules# /sbin/modprobe ivtv-fb root@pvr:/etc/mythtv/modules# dmesg | grep "iTVC15 TV out" ivtv-osd: fb1: iTVC15 TV out frame buffer device root@pvr:/etc/mythtv/modules# but I still don't get MythTV running because of the "no screens found" error.
My TV does now output those lines again.
So - a little progress, but still no XServer and Mythtv

BusID "0:0x10:0" is not valid for newer ivtvdev drivers. Change that line to:
BusID "PCI:0:10:0"
As far as I know r5a15.1 comes with ivtv-0.2.0-rc3i and you're using rc3j. That tells me you've downloaded and installed rc3j. If thats the case the following will work otherwise you'll have to download the lastest ivtv-0.2.0 driver.
Make sure you've installed ivtvdev properly:
Code: cd /usr/src/ivtv-0.2.0-rc3j install -c -m 0444 ivtvdev_drv_o /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/ivtvdev_drv.o

Anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong ?
my TV went from black to a bunch of gray and blackish bars in a stepped-diagonal pattern
With R5A15.1
Here is what I have done :

It would have been nice to be asked if you could use my picture and use up my bandwidth instead of just hijacking my picture.

Sorry, the link have been replaced by another photo...it's not me . As I mention in my last post, my computer freeze in the boot with cascading text and my TV displays green/grey bars.
If I do :
root@mythtv:~# lspci
0000:02:01.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC15 MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
Is it correct if I use this in XF86Config-4 :
BusID "PCI:02:01:0"

thanks roger,
I have a very noobish question if you wouldn't mind my asking.
If you are using the tv-out, does it only work with actual LiveTV? Or if you do this it works with everything right? I have it working with just the tv and a monitor sitting on the side. But all the menu's are on the monitor and live TV plays on the 350's TV out. Which lead me to re-configure to using my GF4200's tv out for now.
What are the benifits with using one over the other?
And in return, I can offer you help with Lirc if your still working on that stuff.
