I'm trying to update my PVR-250 firmware with the latest Hauppage driver using the ivtvfwextract utility. The script keeps bombing:

./ivtvfwextract.pl: Can't open /tmp/ivtvex.6550/hcwpvrp2.sys: No such file or directory


It's not clear why hcwpvrp2.sys is needed since this script is only supposed to extract driver code from the Windows .exe file. Any ideas?

Been there, done that:

The link to edit ivtvfwextract is here:

Look under "problems" section. Edit the script as recommended, put the hcwpvrp2 file where it suggests and rerun ivtvfwextract (with the path to your new downloaded firmware). Hope that helps.

Oh, and you can either get that hcwpvrp2.sys file from the Hauppauge CD, or a Windows machine with the software installed on it.
