Hi,

Created a Myth install using Knoppmyth and a WinTV Go Plus card and came across a few problems and solutions- looking for a few more solutions

To get the TV to work, here's what I have to do:

rmmod bttv
rmmod tuner
modprobe bttv card=26 tuner=39

I had the "tuner not set problem" with the default knoppmyth settings

THEN here's the part with the problem :!: - TV channels won't show up right like this. However, if I:

xawtv /dev/video0

Then use the menus to change the options to NTSC and cable-usa, everything shows up fine. So, can anyone help me figure out where to put all these things to become automated in the Knopp bootup :?:

Of course, the WinTV Go Plus comes with the new Hauppauge remote- to get that to work I had to

wget http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/lircd-g3.conf.txt
wget http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/lircrc-haupgrey-g3.txt
mv lircd-g3.conf.txt /etc/lircd.conf
mv lircrc-haupgrey-g3.txt /root/.mythtv/lircrc

Then, each time I log on after putting in the series of commands to get the TV tuner to work properly:

modprobe lirc_i2c
lircd /etc/lircd.conf

Then I go ahead and run mythfrontend, and everything is great!!! :D

So I guess, where can I put the TV tuner stuff to work right? and Where can I put the remote stuff to work right after the TV tuner stuff works right?

If I put the:

Options bttv card=26 tuner=39

in the /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv file, how can I make sure that it is NTSC and cable-usa like I have to do in xawtv now? is that another option?

And then do I also put the lirc_i2c stuff in the /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv file too?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

the options line should go in /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv as for the ntsc and cable stuff that should be configured in mythtv-setup.

Hi,

Thanks, I put the line in the bttv file and it worked like a charm. I think before I had it in too many different files along with the bttv file that it messed things up in between. No need to use xawtv now to fix the tuner.

Now i'm working on the remote- I opened up:

/etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

In there i Put:

modprobe lirc_i2c
lircd

I moved lircd.conf to /etc/lircd/lircd.conf and now that seems to be loading properly except...

When the computer first boots up mythtv runs fine, except that the only thing recognized by the remote is the OK button. I figured it was the /root/.mythtv/lircrc but that file is accurate and in the right place.

The weird thing is that if I close mythfrontend, go into a prompt, type:

irw

Then it recognizes the remote buttons fine. Even wierder is that if I then run mythfrontend it recognizes the remote fine and all the buttons work properly.

Any ideas on why it's doing this? To repeat my process:

Turn on computer
Exit mythfrontend
irw
control-c
mythfrontend

Everything works fine.

I'm almost there! :)

Thanks for your help!

funniest thing is that the command from the instructions

update-rc.d lirc defaults

would have started lirc for you without having to edit bootmisc.sh. also if for some reason lirc_i2c is not loading for you (never gives me a problem) then the proper place to load modules on boot is to add just the module name to the /etc/modules file.

Works like a charm. I have everything set up except after turning on the computer i have to close mythfrontend, run irw, control-c, run mythfrontend and remote works perfectly.

Wish I could get around that but i'm not going to complain! Everythign else is working perfectly.

Thanks!

OK! so here's what I've figured out in the past few hours for any of you other wintv go plus users out there

If I run mythfrontend in a regular shell, my remote won't work.

If I run mythfrontend in a shell as a SU, my remote works.

Possibly permissions set wrong? How can I get the remote to work in non super user mode OR get it so when mythfrontend automatically runs it's in super user mode?

Thanks!

ok, to have the remote just work at start up without having to close out, run irw and then start back up just do this

open up /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

add the line: lircd /etc/lircd.conf

this should work if you followed the rest of the directions

Does this card supports btaudio or snd_bt87x in stereo?
