Post subject: | PVR-350 Showing Only The Last Image On Screen |
I am having a strange problem with my MythTV. My MythTV has been running normally for about a month and I've been able to record and view cable programs. I was working on adding xmame support to my MythTV and came across this article http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3891 that looked like it might help. To follow these instructions, I changed my .xsession file to start an xterm session instead of mythfrontend. Then I started mythfrontend from the xterm session and started xmame to find out what option was giving me the problem. I exited out of mythfrontend, back into my xterm session. I could then see what mythfrontend was using as the xmame command line. I cut and pasted the command line back into my xterm session and edited the jt switch which is what I thought was giving me the problem. In the process my keyboard stopped responding so I was never able to modify the command line. Shortly after that, my mouse stopped functioning as well. I was still able to ssh into my mythtv box, so I rebooted it. When I rebooted, MythTv will only show the last image that was on the screen, namely, an xterm session on a blue background. I was not able to interact with the screen at all using the mouse, keyboard, remote control, etc. I it completely inert. I'm assuming that the video card's freambuffer is not refreshing. How do I clear out the frame buffer so that my PVR-350 will return to normal functioning. The only thing that I have changed on my MythTv is my xmame configuration files. I have not altered any of the video configuration files or made any other hardware or software changes. I have checked my logs and there doesn't appear to be any error messages saying ivtv or any other video related system has failed but I'm not sure if there is something subtle there that I'm missing. My MythTV's specs are: RA12 PII 450MHz 385 MB RAM PVR-350 80 GB Hard Drive Creative Blaster MP3+ sound card Please let me know if I can provide any other useful information (config files, error messages, etc.) that would aid in solving this problem. Thanks for the help! |

There was no need to mess w/ .xsession... Are you using the TV out on the 350? The 350 isn't a video card and I wouldn't recommended using it for XMAME. |

I have been using the PVR-350's TV out successfully with my MythTV box but now the image is "stuck." I can't get it to refresh no matter what I do to it, the remote doesn't work, rebooting doesn't help either, etc. With respect to the .xsession file, I only changed it so I could get to a command line as the mythtv user in Xwindows. That way I could experiment with the command line and try to find out what's wrong with my MythGame setup. Is there another way to get to a command line after logging in as the mythtv user using the PVR-350? |

I think I figuered out what was wrong with my MythTV. Somehow the X11Config-4 file was replaced and the video output was going through the video card and the mythfrontend's output was going to the monitor and not my TV. When I replaced the X11Config-4 with an older config file with the correct settings for my PVR-350, my MythTV started functioning normally. The question is how did the X11Config-4 file get replaced? I know I didn't change it. Does xmame replace the X11Config-4 file when it needs to or is there something else going on that would do this. Thanks! |
