I don't know about recording as the EPG won't work (see my other thread). I have a PVR-150. Whever I choose "Watch Live TV" from the menu, the screen goes black and locks up. I tried installing the IVTV drivers again (0.3.2s, I believe). Same issue. Thoughts? |

I don't think it's a driver issue. When I type mplayer /dev/video0 I get TV input. It's only when I press "Watch Live TV" that it locks hard. |

The recording appears to work (I can see a little video in "Manage Recordings.") When I click on "Play," however, it locks up again. Could it be a problem with mplayer? mplayer /dev/video0 works fine... Should I recompile something? |

mplayer has nothing whatsoever to do with playing back recordings. mythtv has it's own video player it does not use mplayer. the video section however does. lock ups are hard to diagnose. is it really locked up? can you ping the box ssh in? does hitting ctrl+alt+bkspace do anything? If it is actually locked completely up about the only thing to do is look back into the log files and see if it got anything before the lockup. |

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace does not work, nor does any other key. I can see recordings in the little preview pane, but they will not play (locks up again). |

move one of the .nuv files out of /myth/tv into /myth/video and try to play it from the video screen. If it plays there we know it recorded fine and that mplayer can play it back fine. of course I'm not sure exactly where that leaves us, but that would be my next move. |

Unfortunately, as per my othr thread, http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 9265#29265, I can't get MythVideo to work, either. However, running mplayer from the command line works on those files. |

hmmm double check your permissions. tv video cache etc directories should be owned by mythtv. |

chown'ed all the above to mythtv, but even running mythtv as root produces the same error. |

OK, Mythvideo now works courtesy of another thread and the NUV files work when I play them in mythvideo. Playing either recordings or Live TV doesn't work, though; it still locks up as usual. If there isn't a solution, could I just use mplayer for recordings and live TV? IT seems to work fine... |

no you can't use mplayer for recording and livetv using mythtv. Freevo uses it, but you loose the pause livetv option. |

Well, if there's no other soution.... Maybe I could use it until a solution presents itself? How would I do that? Any thoughts on solving the real problem, though? |
