Post subject: | no audio using bttv driver |
Greetings Knoppmyth users, I am currently trying to get audio working with my bttv card (Phoebe TV Master FM, card=22, tuner=2) and video works great. However, I cannot get any audio from the card. I'm not trying to run it through my sound card yet, just trying to get output from the capture card itself. I have verified it is in the correct jack and played with all the mixer settings, everything is unmuted and everything is turned up. All modules appear to be installed. Anyone have any pointers? I have a feeling I am missing somethign obvious. Let me know if I need to provide any additional information. |

Your tuner card should have an audio out jack. Connect some speakes to this and check that the card is producing audio first. |

Sorry, with your talk about unmuting things, I assumed you were using your sound card audio out. Perhaps try using different tuner values? Different TV standards have a different separation for the audio carrier. Not sure if this is done with a tuner parameters or somewhere else. |

I've tried tuners 2, 6, and 8. I'm almost positive it's Phillips NTSC tuner, but it has been several years since I set it up. tuner=6 doesn't work at all, both type 2 and type 8 have video but no sound. |

Try this at a root shell prompt: /usr/bin/v4lctl -c /dev/video0 volume mute off Problem is you have to plug it in manually every time you reboot, so I stuffed it in "/etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh" script at the beginning. Seems to init fine for me. |
