Post subject: | Can't play DVD's |
My KnoppMyth R5A16 install has stopped letting me play DVD's Dunno what I did, but I could ceratinly play DVD's last night. Have been trying to get MythTV playing on TV (works fine on monitor) so I've been mucking about with XF86Config, but don't think I touched anything else. It's not the symlink prob that's been raised before: Code: root@mythtv:~# ls -al /dev/dvd /dev/cdrom /dev/scd0 /dev/hdc lrwxrwxrwx 1 root cdrom 8 Jul 12 10:22 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc lrwxrwxrwx 1 root cdrom 8 Jul 12 10:22 /dev/dvd -> /dev/hdc brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 May 7 2004 /dev/hdc brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 11, 0 May 7 2004 /dev/scd0 When I try to run xine as root in xterm it actually opens the player, but when I go to read a DVD it gives an error that says: Code: The source can't be read. Maybe you don't have enopugh rights for this, or source doesn't contain data (eg disc not in drive). (/cdrom/video_ts/vts_o1_0.vob) The when I exit xterm it has this in it: Code: *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:669 *** *** for pgc->cell_position_offset != 0 *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:649 *** *** for pgc->nr_of_programs <= pgc->nr_of_cells *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:667 *** *** for pgc->program_map_offset != 0 *** *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in ifo_read.c:669 *** *** for pgc->cell_position_offset != 0 *** ASSERT ERROR: file util.c: line 174 (to_bcd8): assertion failed: (n < 100) ASSERT ERROR: file util.c: line 174 (to_bcd8): assertion failed: (n < 100) ASSERT ERROR: file util.c: line 174 (to_bcd8): assertion failed: (n < 100) ASSERT ERROR: file util.c: line 174 (to_bcd8): assertion failed: (n < 100) ASSERT ERROR: file util.c: line 174 (to_bcd8): assertion failed: (n < 100) ASSERT ERROR: file util.c: line 174 (to_bcd8): assertion failed: (n < 100) I don't think it's a permission issue, myself. Code: root@mythtv:~# grep mythtv /etc/group
cdrom:*:24:mythtv,mwishart audio:!:29:mythtv,mwishart video:!:44:mythtv,mwishart mythtv:x:105: Any ideas what need to do to fix this? Thanks Mick |

Have you checked out the doc files included on the system? Look carefully in the directory /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples. I think you'll find everything you need there. |

Thank you!! That was the issue. The DVD I tried the night before mustn't have been encoded that way (it was a local Soapie episode). ![]() Thanks for taking the time to help. Cheers mick |
