Post subject:  ASUS A7V133 and Promise Ultra ATA

Hi all. This board has two sets of IDE controllers, one is the standard IDE, and the other is an onboard promise ATA100 controller. Myth will not install when the IDE drive is in the ATA100 controller. I tried installing it with the drive on the non-ATA controller and it worked fine. If I switch the IDE cable to the ATA controller, I get a kernel panic on boot. Is there anyway I can get knoppmyth to install or run when connected to the ATA controller?

Thanks!

you'll have to do a manual install. the auto install expects one drive on hda which is the primary master of the onboard ide. When you put it on the raid controler it becomes something other than hda and autoinstall won't work with it.

Thanks for the link... followed the directions and the install went well. Upon reboot however, the system kept looking for hda and after a while gave a kernel panic. I installed it to hde1-hde4. Oh well, I'll live without DMA/66 since this is only a frontend machine. Once I file my tax return (assuming I'll get some ca$h back this year), I'll get a 1900+ and the $70 case I want also.

BTW, finally got the frontend/backend thing worked out. Maybe I should post in the problems/solutions. Thanks to all who contributed to that :)
