Post subject:  The best quality capture card? (HD or SD)

getting a free trail of comcasts DVR box...the guy I talked to about a totally different issue struck up a 40 min conversation with me and I got talked into driving down to trade in for an hdtv dual tuner dvr box :)...I don't have an HDtv but I do have a godbox pc with a 20" monitor.

My main question is what do I need to capture at least svideo or component video +digital coax or fiberop sound...although sounds not a huge issue since I just bought 20' rca cables to run to my comp for my old box...getting a hum from cable leakage he said.

I have a wintvGO hauppage card but theres no hardware encoding which sucks...and its composite in only...

My goal is to use the tuner box and fill it up to its 40-90 hours of storage and then dump that to my comp for storage or dvd.

The tuner is kick ass, I can record two different channels and watch something ive already recorded at the same time :)

cheers

Please clarify (if you want an answer). Of course HD is better than SD. You're not going to get HD out of SVideo no matter how hard you squeeze the rock. WIth HD, the sound is in the stream...
