BTW - Given the fun that people have been having with the recent model 980's due to ongoing changes to the chips you migh do just as well to get an PV-150:

tjc,

Could the MCE model of the 250 be a better option compared to the 980 model if you didn't need a remote?

No. I still haven't seen a success story here with the PVR250MCE.

The lost capabilities between the 250 and the 150 are so minor, and these days the difficulties are essentially identical, so it's just makes sense to save some $ (~$35 here).

Yes of course it does. The original question was "which PVR-250" For the question that is the correct response. It was followed by an alternate suggestion.

PVR-500's are also available for about $125 with shipping and the 0.3.6o drivers work pretty well. If you are not familiar with getting the card to work I would go with one of the above reccomendations.

On a side note: if you have a Via KT-880 motherboard the PVR-500 may have compatability issues. My PVR-500 causes my Soyo KT-880 Dragon 2 to not boot past the post where it works just fine in my Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard.

That's an excellent price. The last time I looked they were closer to $150-$160 but a quick check with PriceGrabber confirms that you are indeed right. If you don't need a remote control this is a definitely a value proposition.
