Post subject: | PVR - 500 MCE 2005 Remote questions |
Couple of questions. Knoppmyth R5A16 P4 1.8 HP PVR-500 Nvidia MX 440 768 MB I followed this to set up my PVR - 500. The card appears to be setup correctly (ivtv output below), but when trying to view live tv I get a black screen and static for sound. I am using 2 dishnetwork 311 receivers svideo to the PVR - 500 and the attached header 1 card. So I configured the card as /dev/video0 and /dev/video1. inputs are set to Svideo0 and Svideo1. is that correct? and where should I be looking for debug information regarding tuner inputs? as an added bonus, I have tested this card with MCE 2005 and it works flawlessly. too bad MCE is such an inferior product. Not to mention that a p4 2.4 with 1 GB of ram had trouble recording and watching something else at the same time. Next set of questions.... I also have a MCE 2005 MicroAntichristsoft remote. I followed the MCE 2004 installation found here. Step 12 says I should look for the following output in /var/log/messages Code: Jul 14 20:36:48 mythtv kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd address 2 Jul 14 20:36:48 mythtv kernel: lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61 Jul 14 20:36:48 mythtv kernel: lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 80 Jul 14 20:36:49 mythtv usb.agent : lirc_mceusb: loaded successfully Jul 14 20:36:49 mythtv kernel: usbcore: registered new driver lirc_mceusb Jul 14 20:36:49 mythtv kernel: /usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.11.9-chw-2/ lirc-0.7.1/drivers/lirc_mceusb/ lirc_mceusb.c: USB Microsoft IR Transceiver Driver v0.2 All I see is this Code: Jul 14 20:36:48 mythtv kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd address 2 am I not linking something correctly? or is there a difference between the 2004 and 2005 versions of the remote that I need to accomodate for? Also, during the install when I chose to use the I686 package as per the above pvr-500 walkthrough. I was never given the option to chose a USB remote. well damn, I should have looked through that ivtv section before posting. upon re-reading my post I noted Code: cx25840: decoder set input (6)
cx25840: Tuner Input cx25840: set audio: 0x01 so I guess I need to make sure I have configured the inputs correctly. |

something new... I upgraded the IVTV drivers to 0.3.6 o and now attempting to watch live tv crashes and kicks me back to the main mythtv menu. from /var/log/messages Code: Jul 27 16:30:57 mythtv kernel: ivtv: Setup VBI API header 0x0000bd0c pkts 1 buffs 48 ln 2 sz 64

I'm having the same problems with a PVR-500. I switched from KnoppMyth to FedoraCore 3, and it solved many of the problems, but I still get pulsing static when I try to watch tv. At least it isn't freezing up anymore. If you find anything out, please post it here. It seems like there are a ton of guys using 500 cards successfully, but they all seem to already know what they're doing, so they don't post how they did it! |
