Is it possible to receive, and watch or record both HDTV broadcasts and/or regular (NTSC) broadcasts on the pcHDTV 3000 tuner PCI card?

A search would find a fair amount of discussion on this topic. Folks who have tried it claim that the results were "unsatisfactory", also you apparently can't set it up to do both with the same configuration. We're not even talking about in parallel here, but rather sequentially without reconfiguring the whole system. It sounds like a conflict betweent he NSTC driver and the ATSC (or pseudo-DVB) driver.

Sigh. Waste of money on my side, then  A channel scan seems to indicate that I can get exactly one HDTV broadcast. Hmm.

You said there were a goodly amounts of posts on using it simply as an NTSC tuner. Can you give me a link, pretty please?

I'd have to search too... I think it was Xsecrets or liv2cod who had experimented with this... Try posts by them that mention NTSC and HD3000...

I've tried it and had no luck, but I didn't put alot of effort into it. There has been a post recently by someone who claimed to have decent ntsc reception on one, and how they did it, but It's late I haven't had much sleep in the last couple of days, and I'm a couple of sheets to the wind, so I don't feel like searching right now.

Hmmm... Nope. Not me. I'm all digital, all the time! I think the NTSC tuner capability of the pcHDTV card is kinda lame, isn't it? I'm pretty sure it relies on your CPU to convert it to MPEG. The PVR-x50 cards are much better because they do the encoding in hardware. If you're truly out of luck wrt ATSC signals in your area, you might consider ebaying the cards and getting some Hauppage cards instead.
