Post subject: | Supported Component Out Video Cards |
Hi All, Getting closer to chosing hardware for my all in one system. But I am having trouble finding good information on Video Card with Component output that can do hardware decoding. I am doing an all-in-one system HDTV HTPC and the hardware decoding and component out. Any sugestions are welcome. ![]() |

the only one that I know of with hardware decoding (somewhat working) is the nvidia 6600 there is a model that has component on a dongle and I've been told it works. |

Thanks for the reply. So far this is the only reply I have. Can you explain what "somewhat working" means. And do you know the manufacuter and model of the card? |

Well many people say they are having success now, but if you search the forum for xvmc you will see what I mean by somewhat working at least every other time you try to ff/rew system would lock up, but some say this is greatly improved, but at any rate that is going to be the best (actually the only) hardware decoding component output option. no I don't know what brand or model it is, I didn't even know it existed till one of the guys on the irc channel told me they got one. |

Xsecrets -- it should be possible to use the mythical nVidia adapter with Xv instead of XvMC, right? It could be interesting. I'd heard of the 6600 and also one called a 6200 that's supposedly cheaper. I think they both suffer from the dreaded 1080i bug, tho, since you HAVE to use the new driver on them. The old 6629 driver is the only one I can use to avoid the 1080i bug. (See the picture for a visual description of the bug: http://www.pbase.com/image/42166669.jpg ) |

yes they both should work fine with xv instead of xvmc, but that wouldn't meet the posters requirement of hardware decode. I was hoping that the person I know who has one would post to this thread. I have seen him make other posts today, but I guess he missed this one, and I hate to speak for other people. Yes I really wish nvidia would fix the 1080i bug or at the very least admit to it and let us know they are working on it. With htpc's becoming more popular one would think it would be priority, but I guess not. |

I've had success installing and configuring an MSI card with the 6200 nvidia chipset, AGP style. Component video is on three of the four connector of a breakout tail plugged into the card. Here is the link to my post with the details. The whole thread is probably relevant. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... c&start=15 alsq |
