Post subject: | Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVB-C driver version? |
I have gotten Knoppmyth almost working, and can get kind of a picture when I switch to live tv. It looks like someone had painted the picture with finger paint and then smeared the whole picture with his palm. Most of the picture is like this, with some features, like a bit of text of the outline or a newscaster's face then appearing in the middle of the mess + "normal" bad mpeg blockiness. I suspect the problem lies with the DVB card's drivers, but this is only an educated guess. The reasons for this guess follow: The card is a Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVB-C.
Now my main question is this: Does Knoppmyth in fact install these "new drivers" (SOL), or does it use the old drivers? In case I do need to install the "new drivers," where could I get some support? I'm not a total newbie with Linux, as in I can "./configure" and "make", but I have never done any "system level" installing, nor have I compiled a new kernel by myself. Does Knoppmyth only install the drivers of the cards you have connected to your motherboard during installation, or does it copy all known drivers in any case? I'm asking since I had a DVB-T card installed when I first ran the installation last week, but since I can't get a good signal from a tabletop antenna (would lock, but couldn't find any channels, not even overnight), I switched to a DVB-C card. The reason I didn't get a DVB-C card in the first place was because they are sligtly more expensive. |

Can't anyone help me, even point to the right direction? Do my questions make any sense? Do you need more information? |

KnoppMyth really only trys to find bttv and Hauppauge cards. In the case of bttv and all others, it is up to the kernel modules to properly detect the cards. |

Post subject: | Definitely a driver issue |
Okay, I managed to get the card working using MythDora, so it's definitely a driver issue. Of course MythDora had its own set of problems but I managed to work around them. Thanks anyway for KnoppMyth. I got this close to getting video from myt DVB card thanks to you, and it gave me hope to keep trying stuff. |
