Post subject: | Channel changing probs with PVR-250 |
I've been a guest lurker for awhile, but I finally got the courage to get a PVR-250 and a shuttle case, and install KnoppMyth. Have a SATA drive, but after going over all the instructions, I got an install going that seems to -almost- work. I can't figure out why, but it doesn't appear that changing channels is working correctly. I'm getting the DataDirect listings successfully, the channel Frequencies are in place in my channel setup, but I can't seem to tune in anything. I'm pretty green here, so it's entirely possible (and what I'm hoping for) that I've neglected a step that someone knows right off the bat. Customer of comcast basic cable. Got the coax plugged directly into the PVR-250. Static on nearly all channels, but I can see the Discovery Channel. Picture quality is really, really bad. I'm guessing this is due to bad settings... .I just don't know where to look. Hunted for awhile in the forums, and read about the ivtv tuner mode. Set it to '2' in /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv, but it didn't seem to help. I'm using the 'tuner0' to try and view this, but I'm also not sure if that's correct, or if a 'composite' setting is correct for cable tuning? Here's the output of dmesg with ivtv. I'm not even sure if that's the problem - any help would be really appreciated. Code: ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ====================

Xsecrets, khrusher -- thanks! I downloaded and installed ivtv 0.37d. Static everywhere at first, then commented out type=2, and let tveeprom set the type. I can switch channels now! Unfortunately the quality is still pretty bad. Ranges from watchable with background snow, to black and white no sound, to total static, depending on the station. It's like I'm using bunny ears instead of a cable feed. I'll be hunting around the forums for more info on this, but if anyone happens to have advice, I'll gladly take it. ![]() Thanks all. |

Got it, had us-cable-hrc instead of us-cable for frequency selections. This rocks, I'm way beyond pleased. Now to get the silver hauppage remote working, and I can bring my legendary tv viewing laziness to new heights. |
