Hi all.

I have a running KnoppMyth R5A15.1 box with an AverMedia DVB-T (761 version) card (see also: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2003). Everything works fine except the ir-remote control that came with that card. It has a receiver connected to the card that can be used by ir-kbd-gpio. When included in "/etc/modules", ir-kbd-gpio detects the card as "card=124" and if you press keys on the remote some work ok (left/right) while others are swapped (up==down, etc.).
The remote looks like this : Image (sorry for the big, bad quality picture...)
It maybe interesting if the Avermedia 771 and 777 remotes look the same or at least have the same keys and if anybody made those remotes work...

I suppose that ir-kbd-gpio uses a wrong keymapping for the card, maybe one for the analog AverMedia cards...
Searching through the BTTV source where ir-kbd-gpio.c is included I found a lot of cards, but not the 761 (card=124 or 7C). This card is detected by the DVB-driver IMHO.
If I had some more information about BTTV and the different remotes I may be able to patch BTTV to make it work correctly... but maybe this isn't even necessary...

Any ideas? Suggestions?

If the card uses lirc you should simply be able to change the lircrc file around to fix the reversed keys, and worst case if some keys aren't mapped at all you should be able to use irrecord to create a new lircd.conf file with all the keys in it.

IMHO ir-kbd-gpio doesn't use LIRC. It maps remote keypresses to keyboard keys. That's why I can't remap the keys with a lircd.conf...
On my system lircd isn't even running and still remote keypresses are received.

ahh so does it not work with lirc_gpio ?

otherwise you will be stuck with editing and recompiling that module or remapping your keys in mythweb, or creating a key modmap as discussed in the ati wonder threads.

If you're prepared to give up on ir-kbd-gpio (and yes xmodmap is the only sensible way to make it do what you want when using ir-kbd-gpio) I have written an LIRC based solution up at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5681

Simon

Thanks simon.
Looks like a good "walkthrough". I guess I'll switch to lirc_gpio and try to get the remote up and running @ the weekend...
The keys in the posted lircd.conf look the same as on my remote, so maybe I don't even have to create a new lircd.conf file...

regards

Kim

No need, the remote is the same for the 771
