Post subject:  Horizontal Lines on PVR-350 TV-Out

I've recently moved my mythtv box to another TV, and everything works fine except you can see horizontal scan lines that scroll up and down the screen. If I check the recordings on a computer, they're fine, so it's not the cable thats a problem. This is using the TV-out on the PVR-350. Any suggestions on what to try?

Thanks

Hi,

If they are fairly wide (~16 lines) and roll upward (us anyway) then you may have a difference in ground potential between the tv and the computer. Or it maybe interlace issues.

The interlacing is set to bob, and that hasn't changed, though this is present on both the menu and the actual viewing.

They range from wide (possibly 16 lines from top to bottom) to very thin, and they are always changing.

The box and the tv are in the same outlet, so it would seem that the ground potential would be about the same, but I have no idea.

Anything I can try?

if you are using the pvr350 tvout you should not need any deinterlace. as it passes the interlaced picture properly, though I doubt this is the problem you are having since it's in the menu's too.

Hi,
If you are connected to cable or an external grounded antenna, there can be a difference of potential. Disconnect the rf cable and see if it goes away.

Not counting the very top or the very bottom of the screen because the picture area is coming out of or going to vertical blanking at those areas. A typical (hum bar as it called) will slowly move up the screen and be about ~16 lines wide and may have two bars on the screen at the same time. This is based on the AC power being 60 htz and the vertical rate of tv is 59.94 for color. I am assuming a US system as I don't know about the 50 htz world.

Also if you have connected an external audio amp, any changes or connections. Use the process of elimination, disconnect something one at a time till you find the culpert.

This is all I can offer.
