I have onboard sound nforce2 with the cmedia 1976 chip this is the one that does not allow volume control. I have come across a hercules gamesurround pci card with the crystal 4624 chip. I checked on the Alsa site and it appears to have a driver, I would like to put it in my myth box but of course messing with a working system is like playing with fire. Has anyone any experience with this chipset? Should it auto detect? Will Myth use it Automatically if I disable onboard sound in the bios. Sorry if I sound like an idiot but I am new to linux and having a lot of fun with my myth box R5a15. Just got Mythstream to work after having no luck with WinMyth.

Thanks
Craig

Myth has nothing to do with detecting your sound card. Disable the card in the BIOS, install the one you want to try. When KnoppMyth finishes booting....
<CRTL><ALT><F1>
Log in as root:
Code:
/etc/init.d/alsa-autoconfig
Discussions about MythSteam and WinMyth have nothing to do with hardware. Discussion about WinMyth have nothing to do with KnoppMyth.
