Post subject: | System won't shutdown |
Hi guys. When I try and shutdown my system via Putty using Code: shutdown now
I get the message "The system is going down to maintenance mode NOW !!" and then nothing, it just sits there until I hard reset. Which log file should I be looking in for errors to problems when the system is trying to shut down? Thanks. |

Well, do you want to shutdown or reboot? Perhaps power management is disabled in the BIOS? |

Thanks, I'll give halt a go. I wanted to shutdown. 'reboot' works fine and reboots the system. |

I think what cesman was trying to say is that you didn't tell the shutdown command what you wanted to do. shutdown -h now = halt or shutdown the computer shutdown -r now = reboot |
