Hi guys. I've got my Live TV hooked up to be output through the video output of my PVR 350, which works fine - but I'm having a problem with sound. I don't get any sound when watching Live TV, although sound works when listening to a CD. I currently have my speakers hooked up to the line-out of the motherboards onboard soundcard (Via EPIA M12000), but I've notived the PVR 350 also has RCA audio poutputs. Am I hooked up to the right output?

If so, where should I start to find the cause of this problem?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
Tv out of the 350 includes the audio on RCA dongles like the video. I believe some folks have used an RCA > mini adapter and looped the audio back into the sound card line in. Also the level from the 350 card is fixed (not adjustable) so using the line in should put it under myth control again.

Thanbks. I've hooked the audio output of the 350 to the line in of the soundcard and it works, but the sound is very quiet - the wiki refers to using aumix to alter the levels but I don't know which one to change to increase the volumn level - can anyone tell me? Thanks.

Hi miraclemaker,

Ok, now things get more complex. You have to open an xterm and run alsaconfig or aumix to change settings. I think in one of the knoppmyth menus you can select master as control instead of pcm. Haven't tried that setting personnally (yet) Look under Utilities > Setup > General (third page I think)

Thanks. From within Aumix, any idea which of the below settings I need to alter to increase the volumn of sound coming from the PVR 350?

Thanks.

Hi,
Should be the line and master. Try them both, one at a time. Also try the menu change and see if that works. It is like an Easter Egg hunt :)

Since you are going in with windows, adjust them while it is playing and listen for results. Absolute worse thing that will happen is it gets broke and you will only have to fix it. Auto upgrade works well.

Thanks for that Mike I'll have a play around. What do you mean Auto upgrade works well?

Thanks.

Hi miraclemaker,

:) If for some reason something becomes broken and you can't unbreak it, an Auto Upgrade from your install cd will do a nice re-install and keep recordings, images, music & most of your settings. Just be sure to do a Backup before doing the upgrade. To be on the safe side, do one now while fresh in your mind! I have relocated "moved" my menus so I am not sure where the default location of that command, but should be somewhere under KnoppMyth menu.

I am also assuming R5A16.
