Post subject: | EPIA M10000 + R5A16 > Video Out Problems |
I am using the Epia M10000 with KnoppMyth R5A16. I tried the instructions to enable the unichrome drivers detailed at: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3775&highlight=epia+boot doing `dpkg -i /usr/srcv/mythtv/epia/*.deb` and/or(without typo->) `dpkg -i /usr/src/mythtv/epia/*.deb` produces an error (since that epia folder doesn't exist) and i can't seem to find the libxvmc package installed anywhere......i am very lost. the bottom line here is: the video out on the motherboard has very messed up colors, and im not sure how to fix it. help would be greatly appreciated thanks |

1. There are no more epia debs as XvMC-VLD is built into the i586 and i686 debs. 2. This has been covered before... If memory serves, DPMS must be ON or OFF in XF86Config-4. I cannot remember exactly. 3. Perhaps a search of the forum. |

Post subject: | colour problem |
Hi, if by "colour is messed up" you mean 'unclear' and green and purple then you probably have the same problem as me since I have a similar motherboard (VIA MII 1.2ghz). I have the colour problem with X, not just with Watching Live Tv. I can 'cowboy' fix it by doing CTRL ALT F1 and then to CTRL ALT F7 I wish I could fix this to work on startup though. I did a search for DPMS on the forum and fair enough lots of people seem to have had this problem with VIA motherboards, and yes, they all seem to have fixed it by setting DPMS to 'false' under the 'VIA device' part of the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. However this hasn't fixed it for me. Perhaps it is something to do with the fact that we are both using R5A16? One post indicated that he had a problem with the hue being set to zero. I notice in the boot up that the hue on my system is being set to zero also. I'm not sure how/where I change this to 50 for X though? |

right, cracked it at long last! There is an option under the MONITOR part of the XF86Config-4 file which sets DPMS to True. This is what you need to change to false. In fact, this is the only thing you need to change in the file to fix the problem. Searching through previous posts can be misleading as they do not tell you where exactly you need to specify that DPMS is set to false and then some posts incorrectly tell you to add it under the "Device" part of the XF86Confing-4 file (along with options for TVOUT "SVIDEO", ACTIVE DEVICE "TV" etc). |
