Just got my mini RF wireless keyboard from the geeks.com sale a few days ago - nice little unit. I was hoping to use it in conjunction with my StreamZap IR remote, but there seems to be some conflict going on. When I have the StreamZap plugged in, I can only use the joystick mouse on the keyboard - the keys themselves don't respond. If I unplug the Streamzap and reboot then the wireless keyboard works fine. They keyboard doesn't use any special driver - it must look like a regular keyboard to Linux. It does NOT use LIRC AFAIK. I don't think there is any transmission conflict either since one is IR and the other is RF but I'm not sure what is going on here. I don't see any obvious errors in the logs. USB keyboards... 8-/ Unplugging it and replugging it may help. You may also get some relief by fiddling with your BIOS. BTW - USB keyboards and mice are on my "not recommended" list, along with SATA drives as your boot device (for install and boot problems), motherboards with Via chipsets (DMA problems), and ATI video cards (TV Out difficulties).

Ugh. Thought I should update this thread. My RF wireless USB keyboard went wacko again shortly after my last post. I guess the BIOS trick didn't really work. It was probably from plugging and unplugging stuff. It seems the order you do this is important for some reason. I'm betting the problem has something to do with the fact that both the joystick mouse and keyboard connect to the USB receiver which is plugged into a single USB port. I'll bet the HID driver gets confused as to whether it's a mouse or keyboard. Rats. It does work sometimes, however. Especially if I unplug the StreamZap remote. I hope the USB drivers get updated in the next release.

But it is something to think about. I've got a pretty wimpy power supply but I wouldn't expect the wireless receiver to use all that much power... The front usb ports are connected to the mobo via a short cable and the rear ports are soldered directly on the board. I will try switching stuff around just for the heck of it. Thanks.

I'm still in the hardware collection phase of my install.. I just bought the same keyboard + mouse combo as you, but didn't realize it until I saw your pic. I'd like to know if you had any luck with it. I haven't been able to use it at all so far. (but I've only tested with v3.6 of Knoppix (not KnoppMyth) Please let me know what your findings are. It works. I just couldn't get both the wireless keyboard and my streamzap remote to work at the same time without constantly fiddling with it. Now I just use the streamzap with Myth and I use that keyboard with my Windoze based PVR.

I bought a Hauppauge PVR-350 and a pcHDTV-3000 card. The 350 has a remote and I plan to use it, so hopefully I won't have the same interoperability issue that you did. When you were using it with your KnoppMyth box, did you do you install with a wired keyboard and then move to wireless or did the Ione keyboard+mouse work right from day one? Thanks! JB

Yeah, it might work in your case. I recommend you install with a wired PS/2 keyboard and then try switching to the wireless keyboard after you get most everything else working.
