Post subject: | Hauppage PVR-150 IR w/ Different Remotes (e.g. TIVO) - HELP! |
I have my silver hauppage remote working great with my PVR-150, but can't get any other remote to work with this IR receiver. using irrecord utility, I can also pick up the signals off the hauppage remote, which makes sense.. but ANY other remote I have, a Tivo, Tivo 2, Toshiba Television remote and Sony DVD remote it says it can't detect the GAP. So, I am comming to the conclusion that this Hauppauge IR receiver is somehow hard-wired to only understand the Hauppauge remote. Anyone have any insight? |

I happily use a universal remote w/ my Hauppauge receiver. I believe the Hauppuage use "jp5". The remotes you are trying probably don't. Google is your best bet. |

Hmmm...not sure if this applies to you...I have a pvr-350 card, and I used the Radio Shack remote recommended here: http://www.wilsonet.com/mythtv/remotes.php I programmed it using the original Hauppauge remote. Works great. It cost $30.00, and not only does it work for Myth, but I also have it running all my other components. I truely have a single remote running myth, tc, cable box, receiver(limited, but does what I need), and DVD. Heck, my wife uses it, so there is the biggest testament that it works well ![]() |

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. I didn't think that I could get any universal-learning remote and just have it record the IR off my hauppauge so that its using the exact same protocol. I may have try this out. I still would like to figure out how to use my existing DirecTivo remotes, but I can't find which protocol those use and then once I did have to find a purchasable IR receiver that can talk to those. I really don't want to home-brew an IR receiver to a serial port... Something easy and USB would be nice, or PCI... or serial, but a dongle I buy, not build. |

I think with other multifunction remotes you have to use certain phillips or magnovox codes to get the right type. then I believe you have to record a new lircd.conf file to match the remote codes. |
