Here are links to the 2 cards:

Leadtek TV2000XP RM ($29 + $20 rebate) = $9
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814122221

Leadtek TV2000XP/EXPERT = $45
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814122180

System Specs:

Processor: AMD 2500XP
Memory: 512MB DDR 333
Motherboard: ABIT NF7-S2G
Video: GeForce TI4200 128MB 8xAGP
HD1: 80GB IDE
HD2: 70GB SCSI
HD3: 70GB SCSI
Sound: Onboard or SB Live!
CD1: 16x DVD-ROM
CD2: 24x CDRW

Right now, I want to run a setup with 2 TV cards. What I noticed between the two is that both have some pretty good driver support within Linux. The 9 dollar Leadtek TV2000XP RM uses the BT878A chip, but is older compared to the Leadtek TV2000XP/EXPERT's CX2388X chip. I am running video through an old LCD projector that does 800x600 native. Should I spend the extra dough on the newer chipset and better resolutions or just stick with the older chipset and more money in my pocket? I do have a bunch of SB Live! sound cards laying around and do not mind using 2, or 1 with the onboard sound. What's my best bet right now?

Hands in your pockets, playing with the money you save. ;)

don't know anything about the RM, but you do not want the expert, as it uses a chipset that just recently became supported in mythtv, means headaches.

I have used the RM model before. gotchas
Set correct options for bttv driver http://lists.zerezo.com/video4linux/msg02951.html
Crappy picture quality
High CPU usage (software encoding)
Multi sound cards are a pain.

Buy two PVR150MCEs or the 500MCE http://www.pcalchemy.com/index.php?cPath=21
Driver support's not perfect but my NTSC setup runs 7/24 solid on a old 440BX MB with two cards.
