Post subject:  Remote Control Questions

I've had my mythTV box for a few months now and it's become an indespensible peice of equipment. Now it's time to setup a remote control for it (so far i've just been using a regular wired keyboard). This breaks down into two main parts:
1. How to get remote signals into the pc
2. Which remote to use

For the first part, I probably don't want to bother with making my own IR reciever at this point, so I was considering something like http://www.zapway.de/e_index1.htm

The remote i'm just looking for suggestions on. I really like the Sky Navigator, but it's pretty pricy. I could just go for a slightly cheaper general universal remote, but the addition of a full qwerty keyboard is quite interesting.

So, what do you pro's reccomend for recievers and remotes that work well with myth?

An easy approach that several folks I know of have taken is to get and IR wirelsss keyboard. For example:
I have the model 571 which is quite nice, and solidly made. Then given a good learning remote, you just teach it the keycodes.

The only problem with this approach is that you lose the LIRC capability of changing the button mappings when different applications are running.

Having a PVR-250, the remote was bundled, and all I had to do was install the lirc software and make sure the configuration was right...

Yeah, I had considered getting a small wireless keyboard, but it still doesn't have the same form factor as a regular remote. That's part of the reason I was drawn to the sky navigator remote since it folds out into a full QWERTY keyboard.

So what you did was buy a cheap IR keyboard that connects to the PS/2 port, and then use a learning remtoe to program it to act like the keyboard? Seems like a pretty decent idea.
