Post subject: | DVB install problems |
Hi Just installed latest Knoppmyth on AMD XP3000 box and Myth has problmes with the DVB card. Card is Visionplus DVB-T and looking at dmesg output it seems that the drivers are all sorted at boot, claims it has installed as dvb0 but when I try to setup Myth it claims it cannot find it and/or already in use. Have checked and the backend is not running......so any clues? Steve |

Thanks for the informative reply, I did an extensive search before posting and came up with no useful information. Problem strangley went away after various reboots while sorting audio drivers. |

Red eyd you could not have searched very hard, as with this particular card which I am an owner too, will not allow the system to boot fully off the CD. THEN to get the card working after installing KnoppMyth I had to upgrade and recompile my kernel, so you must be magic to get it working sort of out of the box, so to speak. |

I did search and did not find an answer that worked......... It seems that the problem is not consistent as I have used this card in 5 different systems now and had absolutely no problems with booting from the CD on all of them. I have found that sometimes the DVB device is not created and some playing with the module loading order usually cures this. I have noticed that the latest versions of these cards are more sensitive to signal than older versions as I cannot get it to tune ( poor signal quality and signal to noise ratio ) even when the transmitter is visible from the aerial location. An older version of the card has no such problems. My problem may have been related to something else as the system now refuses to boot due to an error in the SATA driver and a resulting kernel panic. Again weird as system has been booting and running fine for 2 days while I went through the configuration and now suddenly will not boot. redeye |
