Just gone done installing, install went quite smoothly. Lots easier compared to fedora and gentoo. However, I'm having the same problem I had with fedora and gentoo: Mythtv displays live tv with no sound.

I have a athlon64 using onboard sound, and a pvr-250. The DTV reciever is hooked to the 250 with svid, and with the rca jack.

Is there someone who can help me? Ive asked a million people now about this very same problem, and so far nobody has an answer that fixes the prolem. Thank you!

are you trying to listen to sound on the output of the pvr-250 or the soundcard?

Have you verified volume levels using alsamixer?

I was listening for output from the sound card from either livetv or captured video.

Yes, the sound volumes seem to be fine, I played an mp3 and the sound on that was good.

Any update to this? I'm having the exact same issues! My setup is an XP 2000+ using BT based Leadtek Winfast PVR-2000 XP - I get sound to work in tvtime, xawtv and other apps no problem, only no sound in Live TV! This is getting VERY frustrating! I've tried umpteen different distros, install guides and my own knowledge and willingness to fark around! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks a bunch,
SlaeYer

all I can tell you is the leadtek works fine for sound. the two gotcha's I've seen are that people don't have the audio setings right ( mute linein and set it as capture device ) or some sound cards will only accept certain bitrates, so you may have to adjust the bitrate in your recording profile I had to do that on one of my systems.

Thanks for the info! I'll give the bitrate a try!
