I will be ordering my HD Digital Cable from Comcast (In Detroit market) in the next few weeks and wanted to know if there were any specific models of Digital Cable box I should request for the Myth set up I plan to have. I plan to be using Firewire and eventually a pcHDTV card to bring the HD content in. I will not be using any of their DVR products. Thanks much! (ease of setup mixed with functionality and quality of picture is what i'm looking for!) |

you want the motorola 6200 with firewire ports. This is usually what comcast uses for hdtv boxes that don't have dvr. I doubt you will have much luck requesting a specific model from comcast they are not very good about working with you on stuff like that, but from most accounts the 6200 is their default box anyways. They gave me one without the firewire ports and after talking to several people on the phone who had no idea what ieee1394 was and swore that cable boxes didn't have firewalls I had to go down to the main office and point to the ports labled ieee1394 with the placeholders and say I want a box that has something here and they came right bac out with one. |
