I am in the process of setting up my first system and making good progress. Tonight I noticed that audio on specific channels seems to be coming and going. I believe this related to a poor signal as I have strung together some coax to enable me to debug my system in a spot where cable is not readily available.

The reason I think it's signal related is because when I play around with the fine tuning in mythweb I can get the audio to come back.

This leads me to three questions:

1) Has anyone else seen this behavior and is it possible that it's signal related? I have two PVR-150's and they are doing the same thing...I don't think it's a hardware problem.

2) What is the fine tuning actually accomplishing in terms of the frequency? What does the number I'm entering in mythweb mean?

3) I'm shutting down mythtv and then making the changes to the frequency in mythweb because I don't know if there's a way to switch to other applications while mythtv is running. Is there?

Thanks.

I've relocated the system to it's permanent location where the cabling is better and the signal much stronger. I have no issues with audio at this point.

I'm still curious if it's possible to switch back and forth between the desktop and mythtv. I would also like to learn more about what fine tuning is actually doing. If these things are documented somewhere please just point me in the right direction.

Thank you.
