Same here. I was having the dark problem (all vga for me) with r5a16 and tried r5a22 in the hopes it would fix the issue, since nothng else has worked. Well the only difference is that r5a22 has the issue earlier, because it installs the nvidia drivers before I even have a chance to pick the i686 option. But the end result is the same.
This was a SATA manual install if it helps. And while I am sure it is not related I hit the same first boot 99 99 99 99... issue. Ran lilo and fix that after fixing lilo.conf. So that issue is still here.
kcossabo, what kind of nvidia card do you have? And did a different install of knoppmyth, work with it?
