I currently have basic cable with my local provider. They broadcast the digital music channels and the local hdtv channels unencrypted. The hdtv channela are located on channel 113-1 113-2, 115-1, 115-2, 115-3, 116-1. Is the air 2 pc the best tv turner card for me given this set up. Also are these channels likely qam. Sorry I am new to this arena. rkshack |

if it is over the cable it is definitely qam and the only card that I know does qam is the pchdtv3000, though that's not any guarantee that it will be able to get those channels in mythtv, some cable providers comcast in particular strip some info from the stream before encoding it in the qam, that makes it not work properly with myth. |

I thought the faq for the pchd3000 said that it would only pick up over the air signal, not cable. Was I wrong. The air 2 pc specifically mentions accepting qam on cyberstore.com @ http://www.cyberestore.com/product_info ... cts_id=103 Rkshack |

Assuming that the tuner card can pick up the qam channels that I referred to in my first post: Can I modify the channel guide within mythtv to add those channels. For example 116-1 is an hdtv fox. If you get a cable box it receives it to channel 201. So if you were to look on the zap 2 it program guide it would not list channel 116. Can I go into the mythtv set up and tell it that at channel 116-1 is wxtx, the local fox channel. |

no idea, as my cable provider strips the psip data, so I've never been able to get past getting mythtv to scan the channels. |
