I hope someone can help me with this one..

I've managed to get spdif working from my M10000 to my Dolby amp.. However, when I was running windows dvd's or AC3 enabled avi's would switch the amp to Dolby Digital.. I've found that the same DVD's and avi's don't do this within Linux..

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm having no luck googling or searching the forums here :(

The questions are, what are you using to playing the AVIs and have you comfigured it to played in "digitial surround"?

Thanks for the reply cesman :)

I've found a way to do what I'm after... I needed some mplayer switches to enable AC3.

Here's what I'm using for AC3 avi's.. I've still to sort something out for DVD playback because that uses xine instead of mplayer..

/usr/bin/mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -monitoraspect 16:9 -vo xv -ac hwac3, %s

Note : the -ac hwac3, enables AC3. The , is important since that tells mplayer to revert back to stereo if no AC3 soundstream is found.

there may be a switch in xine, but the easiest way is to get out of mythfrontend and run xine from an xterm then use the gui to setup passthrough.
