Panasonic 60" LCD monitor

Currently, this box is running debian sid and is connected to the panasonic LCD via it's VGA in. I'm mainly using it as an Freevo MP3 jukebox via the onboard sound->stereo.

The PVR-500 and the MCE stuff is on order. I understand from reading here that both VIA and ATI are problematic and I might be looking at a video card/mobo replacement. Figure it's worth a shot :)

Will I continue to use the VGA In on the Panasonic or will I need to use S-Video?

Should I keep my currently working XFree config handy?

It will proabably be fine. knoppmyth is very closely based on debian sid.

The via chips that always give problems are the 133/266 chips newer than that work for most people.

whatever you did to get your ati card working for debian should work on knoppmyth as well. and I would definately keep the Xfree/Xorg (whichever one you are using) config file around. then just use your vga out just like you did in debian. Just to let you know I'm not sure how current your debian sid is, but knoppmyth is still on Xfree 4.3 and has not made the move to Xorg yet which debian sid did just recently.

Well, thanks! That's promising news :)

This sid box hasn't been updated for a while (it's been too stable to fool with), so it's still on Xfree86.
