First I'd like to thank cesman for the response in my last post, work has kept me busy. (changed TV's) Here's the situation, I've upgraded from R5A12 --> R5A15.1 --> R5A16 without any major issues (EXCELLENT WORK). Each time I've compiled mythfm with success. I'm using a WinTV 878 for the FM Tuner and it has worked great every time. That is until an upgrade to R5A22. Then all I got out of it was static. I used the command line radio program and still got static. I've tried several other options including some hints from other users posts. I finally downgraded back to R5A16 successfully. The system was up for 9 days. Then on Sunday my wife finished watching her recorded show, I burned some audio cd's, we went out for a little while and came back to getting "permission denied" issues with all hardware devices. No clue what happened. I've checked all permissions and everything checks out. I even gave all permissions to mythtv and still get denied. I'd like to either upgrade or reinstall R5A22. Any light on these matters would be appreciated. Thank You |

First you'll need to make sure your card is working. The best way that I know of is to install radio, a console based radio package. So do this as root $su password #apt-get install radio Now if your hardware is working then it should work with mythfm. I couldn't find the mythfm source so I did this. Install alien, this will convert the rpm to a tar package, so $su password #apt-get install alien I was using KnoppMyth R5A16 and alien installed with no issues. Now as the mythtv user download the source rpm $cd /home/mythtv $wget http://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirror ... ac.src.rpm Then you'll need to convert the rpm to a tar.bz2 $alien -t mythfm-20050518-2.mdk10.2.thac.src.rpm That will give you a .tgz so then $tar xvfz mythfm-20050518.tgz this will create two files mythfm.tar.bz2 & mythfm.spec $tar xvfj mythfm.tar.bz2 now cd into mythfm $cd mythfm Then follow the install instructions within You should then be set to go. I'll help were I can if you run into any problems. Good Luck |

Hiya, thanks for the help, downloaded the radio program, but doesn't seem to work. I am trying to use an old Hauppage WinTV PCI card, which has an FM coaxial input, and I have put a mini tv aeriel in it. The card has worked fine previously for radio with Windoze. I tried radio -s, no response, also just tried the radio command on its own, no response again Any ideas ???? Contact me off list, if you would like.... Thanks in advance Matt Shaw matt@shagshaw.com |
