Post subject: | Choppy DVD video via xine |
I actually posted something about this to the mythtv-users mailing list and got some help regarding the issue, but I am now at a standstill. Machine: P4 2.8Ghz PVR: two PCR-350 cards KnoppMyth: A16 When I play a DVD and use xine it is choppy. But if I use mplayer it works fine. It was suggested that I upgrade the ivtvdev_drv.o to 0.10.6 amd to use -V xv on the xind command line. This would force xine to use the Xv driver, but when I do that I get the message: ====================== init class succeeded video_out_xv: Xv extension is present but I couldn't find a usable yuv12 port. Looks like your graphics hardware driver doesn't support Xv?! main: video driver <xv> failed ====================== I would prefer to use xine as it would allow me to use the sound out on the PVR-350 card. Thanks -Bennett |

I was just about to post about having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution for it? |

No I haven't. I will post to the ivtv development list probably tonight after work. If I do get a solution I will post it here though. |

just a quick question. are you runing mplayer through the mythtv interface or are you quiting mythtv and then running mplayer? i was wondering this becasue i have a m1000 (1.3ghz) with a pvr350 and 512mb ram and when i try to watch a dvd on my tv i get BAD frame loss, (i guess outputting through the pvr350 card causes this) i didnt know if it was because my pc was to slow or some configuration. that could be changed. |

That is exactly what I am seeing as well. I am using a P4 2.8ghz. I have mplayer setup to play via the frontend. Just changed the xine command line to a mplayer one. The drawback is I need to take the sound of my soundcard into another channel on the receiver, but this is just workaround until I get xine working. Still no response from the ivtv users list. |

I upgraded to R5A26 and now xine is no longer choppy. This comes with ivtv 0.4.0. So that seems like it is the solution. Use the 0.4.0 ivtv driver. |
