I've done a scratch install of R5A22 and it works fine. I'm using a PVR-350 and using the TV-out of a GF440-MX.
Now I thought it would be interesting to use a WebCam with MythPhone (I'm aleady using SIP for telephony).

Adding my Logitech QC4000 works fine. Driver installs automatically when I boot KnoppMyth. The webcam gets /dev/video0 witch my PVR-350 previously had. So I go into mythtv-setup and change my PVR-350 to /dev/video1. After a reboot this almost works. I get a nice picture but no sound. The strange thing is that i get no sound in previous recordings that I know had sound. I even saw that it happend to do a recording when the webcam was plugged in and after I restored everything, I had sound in that recording. So it's only playback that doesent work.

I guess this is really simple (as all problems are when you know the solution). I guess it has something to do with "decoding parts" beeing used on the PVR-350 in playback.

Any ideas?

regards
håkan

From my experience with this exact webcam it has nothing to do with the PVR350, you will find that if you run alsamixer it won't run. To fix it on my machine here is a script that I run:
Code:
#!/bin/sh

# Set the order of sound devices
echo "options snd-emu10k1 index=0" > /etc/modprobe.d/sound
echo "options snd-usb-audio index=1" >> /etc/modprobe.d/sound

You will need to change the snd-emu10k1 to the module your sound card uses as this is for my Sound Blaster audigy. After running this script you will need to reboot and sound should return.

Hi Haan

Can yopu please let me know how you got the mythphone/SIP to work. I have been through the myth setup and I believe I also have to set up some port forwarding on my internet router to allow the sip though, but no idea which ports to forward (my windows box works ok with softphone sip, with no port forwarding required)

I would also be interested in getting a webcam going with it.

Can you please help ???

I lost sound only when the camera was plugged in at bootup. I exited the frontend and used the mouse. Right-click and navigate thru the menu to APPS . SYSTEM . ADMIN . ALSACONF

A shell will open asking for root password. Type it and the ALSA or sound configuaration program will start. Go through ALSACONF and it will correct your sound. You may need to run this again if you disconnect the camera.
